James Frazier is an experienced litigation practitioner. James has successfully argued criminal and family law matters; winning favorable results for his clients. Mr. Frazier will utilize his superior understanding of Colorado’s state courts to assist you in achieving a positive outcome for your legal matter.
Mr. Frazier grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he received a bachelor of science from the University of Michigan. Although James loved studying the brain, a desire to help individuals in legal trouble drove James to attend law school at the University of Colorado. During law school James worked on both sides of the criminal aisle with district attorneys and public defenders.
James spent his first summer in law school working with the office of the public defender in Washtenaw county, Michigan. James represented defendants in court on felony matters making arguments related to sentencing, bail, and other issues of law. Unlike Colorado, Washtenaw county houses the only public defender’s office within the state of Michigan. Michigan courts primarily contract with former district attorneys to represent criminal defendants.
James spent his second summer working with the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office in Colorado Springs. James’ work with the district attorney gave him the opportunity to argue motions, try cases and plea bargain with defendants and their attorneys. James felt a strong connection to the Colorado Springs community due to the location of the School for the Blind and Deaf in that jurisdiction.
Mr. Frazier is a person who is legally blind. Accordingly, James enjoys representing clients with visual limitations as well as other disabilities.
James began advocating for people with disabilities at the University of Colorado's Technology, Law, and Policy Clinic where he lobbied for adaptable e-books in Washington D.C. James’ lobbying efforts were successful. After meeting with the FCC, NTIA, and members of Congress, Mr. Frazier successfully preserved e-book accessibility for people with disabilities.
After passing the bar, James clerked in Arapahoe and Jefferson county district courts. Clerking gave James experience with cases involving murder; sex assault; high-value theft; and other felonies.
Mr. Frazier’s diverse legal background inspired him to open his own practice. Mr. Frazier feels privileged to dedicate his time and energy to representing clients in criminal and family law matters. Additionally, James continues his work advocating for people with disabilities by working with local community organizations to improve quality of life for everyone in the Denver metro area.
In his free time, James enjoys swimming, running, and climbing.
